•The lowest marker should be ready with his/ her ball teed up, to tee off as soon as the group in front are out of range;
•If a player can no longer participate in a hole, they should pick up.
With the increase in the size of the field, it is vital that all members keep up with the group in front at all times. The timesheets are designed for all groups to achieve a target time of 4 hours 30 minutes per 18 holes (2 hour20 minutesper 9 holes)
Compliance with these targets will result in more enjoyable golf for all.
Slow Play
The Sunshine Golf Club is committed to the view that slow play is harmful to the game of golf and to a player's enjoyment of it. Undue delay is liable to a penalty in all forms of play.
Members and guests of the club should pay attention to the following to maximize everyone's enjoyment.
Target Time
•It is expected that all rounds are to be completed in 4 hours and 30 minutes
•All members of the group are responsible to achieve this target time.
Timesaver Hints:
•Whoever is ready to play on the tee should do so, disregarding the honor;
•Mark your scorecard while others are hitting;
•Shorter hitters may tee off first in the interest of fast play;
•Proceed to your ball as quickly as possible;
•Minimize the number of practice swings;
•When in doubt hit a provisional ball;
•All players should watch other shots to help locate the final position of the ball;
•If a player can no longer participate in a hole he/she should pick up;
•Park your buggy on the exit side of the green, nearest to the next tee;
•Make your club selection and complete your practice swings before it is your turn to hit;
•Stop searching for ball after five minutes. (Would you know when five minutes is up?);
•Call the following group through when you feel your search for the ball is likely to delay them;
•Leave the player with the lost ball to look on their own after one or two minutes (when the chance of finding it is remote) so as you can prepare for your own shot;
•After putting, quickly declare whether marking or continuing. An immediate warning for the next person putting allows for early preparation for the other player;
•Having completed putting, take the flag over, or be in a position to leave the green quickly;
•Pick up immediately when you can no longer score for that hole in the competition;
•Ask your guests in social golf to pick up if they are delaying the following group; and
•Politely ask the group in front to call you through if it is obvious they are delaying the field.
Keep track of the time taken for the round to ensure you are on track to achieve an acceptable time frame.
Numerous practice swings, lengthy delays in lining up putts, pacing out distances prior to club selection, and viewing putts from all points of the compass are not sensible practices for the average golfer.
If you are concerned about your ability to keep up in a field, consider playing at the end of the field.
Remember the importance of these points in the interests of total member enjoyment
On the Green
•Park your clubs in line with the next teeing ground;
•Line up your putt while others are playing;
•Always "Putt out" unless restricted by another players line; and
The first person to putt out should replace the pin for others.
