Saturday Junior Squad

Each Saturday from approximately 3.30pm, junior golfers are able to practice and or play on thew course in a supervised group structure. This time is an ideal way for juniors to access the course and meet and play with other juniors, learn basic skills and ettiquette of golf. Parents are encouraged to supervise at all times.

These sessions are designed for juniors aged 8-14 who are absolute beginners to intermediate level players.

New juniors will be provided with equipment if required (please book) in order to learn to play.

No membership fees are required for participation in the initial phase of learning.  Golf ball hire is payable subject to use on the golf range.

Once juniors learn the basics and are able to play competition they may then progress into adult Sunday and Saturday competition play.

Scores may be submitted to the Junior development officer for handicapping until the junior obtains a golflink handicap and progress' through to the adult club competitions. Juniors who obtain an official golflink handicap may play in the adult competition of the day (Saturdays- subject to playing rights granted). Parents must supervise the junior at all times on the course. Competitions will be conducted for Juniors from time to time to help encourage development through the junior pathway.

 

 


 
Junior Program

 The Sunshine Golf Club has traditionally been a strong supporter of Junior Golf and is committed to providing a comprehensive Junior program. The club has structured its program to provide all junior members with development opportunities in a fun and relaxed learning environment.  A pathway has been formed to facilitate the progress of Juniors from beginner utilising Development Squad sessions, from Saturday afternoon sessions, School holiday programs through to adult Sunday competition and finally to Saturday Competition for advanced juniors.

 

Junior Development Program

To provide a comprehensive Junior program the formation of a program involving coaching and development is essential. With this in mind, all Junior members will have the ability to participate in the Junior Development Squad, with coaching and other golf related activities planned to assist the development of all Sunshine Juniors and Sub Juniors. This program will be based on the successful Victorian Institute of Sport program.
